Hmm, we never got to the gliders....although a chipmunk without a prop would be like one....for about 2 seconds before it turned into a brick.

Another thing was the parachute itself. We were strapped in so tight, and some of those straps digging in so tightly to some VERY sensitive areas, that we were walking veeeeery carefully to the aircraft with the top half of our body bent over at about a 35 degree angle, i couldn't have got up and out quick even if i wanted to....

Ah yes... those heady days .... I also remember those useful instructions, and asking our kindly flying instructor just how we were to stand on the wing of an aircraft which would probably be spinning rapidlt while it was plummeting... I think the answer was "i wouldn't worry about it - you won't have time to fret about it if it actually happens....." :O

I also remember then taking me up in a glider, where you sit in the front, with the pilot controlling the craft behind you. It gavee you a fantastic view of the countryside, but again , when I asked why we were in front of the pilot, the reply was "if you crash, you give our expensive pilot something soft to land on... we haven't spent hundreds of thousands of pounds training you....."

Strange sense of humour, those pilots!

Well, I can hide, but baybe knows my hiding place so it wouldn't work very well.
